The morning nap!

The morning nap!

All Babies have their rhythm!

And although some still sleep in the morning beyond 15 months, others have been very active for a long time. How is it with you?

Bénédicte’s account: “When she’s had a nap in the morning, she no longer wants to sleep in the afternoon!"
"My daughter is 8 months old and rarely sleeps in the morning (and when she has had a nap in the morning, she no longer wants to sleep in the afternoon).
She’s a baby who sleeps very well at night (between 12 and 14 hours), so if she sleeps for 2 hours during the day, it’s an achievement”.

Marie’s account: the morning nap is sacred
“My baby is 10 months old and the morning nap is sacred! He can sleep from 1.30 to 3.00! In which case, he sleeps for 1 hour, or even not at all (but that’s rare), in the afternoon. There’s no question of him waking in the morning, however. He’s a real sleepyhead and sleeps for 12 to 13 hours."

Laurence’s account: still at 18 months!
“My little darling still sleeps between 1½ and 2 hours in the morning and he’s 18 months old, it just goes to show! In addition, he sleeps 10 hours a night and two hours in the afternoon!”

Pascale’s account: the afternoons are long!
"Mine is (barely!) 1 year old and has just stopped taking his afternoon nap! On the other hand, he’s still very attached to his morning nap (so the afternoons are inevitably long!)"

Solange’s account: It’s a bit disconcerting
"Mine began missing her morning naps occasionally from her first birthday onwards. At the crèche, however, she still slept a little in the morning (more tiring, the noise, the movements around her, etc.) until she was 14 to 15 months old. It’s a bit disconcerting: we feel almost as if we’ve returned to the first weeks when we were constantly trying to ascertain the child’s rhythm! Everything seemed to start up again when she stopped taking her morning nap!"

Tiphaine’s account: So I stopped the morning nap
"I would say about 15 months ago. In fact, his morning naps had shortened to a maximum of ½ an hour, and the afternoon naps were beginning to get difficult. So I stopped the morning nap by bringing lunchtime forward, to start with, and this resulted in the afternoon naps going really well again without him showing any sign of tiredness in the morning"

Hélène’s account: "two children, two different rhythms!"
"Children follow each other but are not alike, so my son, the eldest, stopped at around 6 to 8 months and my daughter at around 13 to 14 months."

Léa’s account: "still at 16 months!"
“My first daughter didn’t take any naps at all from the age of 1 year onwards, overnight, while my little pet of almost 16 months sleeps 11 to 12 hours a night + 2 naps of 2 hours each".

Stéphanie’s account: "think in terms of the number of hours of sleep per day!"
"My baby will soon be 20 months old. He gets up at 6.00 a.m., because he goes to the nanny. He needs a nap of one hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. In the evening, we put him to bed at 8.00 p.m., which adds up to around 13 hours’ sleep per day. I think it’s best to look at the approximate number of hours’ sleep the baby needs over 24 hours and try to apportion them in line with his rhythm."
