Summer is just around the corner... make sure you’re equipped !

Whether it´s a weekend in the country, a picnic or a snack in the park, family activities become multi-faceted the moment sunny days make their come-back.

For baby to take full advantage of these outings, all you need is the proper equipment and to follow a few basic rules.

If you are planning to leave home for a few days:

Think of baby’s comfort first and don’t forget that she will especially need to be comforted and reassured. Small children quite frequently don’t fall asleep as easily in the country as they do in their own bedrooms! To help make this change of scenery less dramatic, don’t forget to pack:
Your child’s security blanket and a few of her favourite toys (or favourite music), these familiar objects will help to reassure her.
A small night-light you can place in the hall near her room (or even in her room, if necessary) so that she can easily take her bearings should she wake up in the middle of the night.
Your baby monitor:your baby’s room could be farther away from your room than it was at home (rechargeable baby monitors exist).
A folding cot and her sleeperfor sleeping comfort (even if your baby is already an older child, she may prefer to sleep in the familiar folding cot rather than in an “unknown” bed more adapted to her size).

If you are planning shorter trips outdoors:

You will need practical products specially designed for “babies on the go". You are already used to carrying (for visits to the paediatrician or trips to grandma’s house) what you need to change and clean your tot: nappies, baby lotion, wipes, etc.) as well as the classic “just in case” bottle or jar of baby food. In addition to this basic equipment, you should take everything you’ll need to prepare and store her meal while out:

A bottle insulator will allow you to transport any type of bottle and keep it cold (for 8 hours) or hot (for 5 hours) depending on what your plans are. To keep the bottle in a perfect state of hygiene, formula should only be added at the last minute. The bottle you carry in the pouch must only contain hot water (without formula) in order to avoid bacteria growth.

And finally, to guarantee your outing is a pleasant and successful one, never forget to pack a comfortable blanket (so baby can crawl around freely) as well as the absolutely necessary parasol.
