The benefits of play

From your child´s very first moments, his senses are tuned in. After the voice and image of mother, baby becomes increasingly aware of what he sees and hears around him.

So fill his world with soft music and show him a rainbow of colours!

Play is an essential activity for your child´s development. From his first weeks onwards, your baby will alternate periods of sleep, feeding and playtime.

Every waking moment will be a time of discovery for him!

Play has a role to play in every stage of your child´s development:

1. intellectual:

building attention : concentrating for longer and longer periods as the months go by

observing : colours and shapes

imitating : the sounds and syllables he hears

memorising : sounds, faces, shapes …

2. pyschomotor:

learning to grip : he will first grab his rattle in one hand, and then pass it from one hand to the other... eventually, you will be able to give him smaller and smaller objects to hold!

developing motivity and coordinating movements: by putting shapes back in the right place, piling up blocks on top of one another…

exploring the body, the immediate environment, etc.

3. social:

Toys are not all it takes… and any recreational activity soon becomes dull if it has no "socio-emotional" side.

For children, playing is above all about encountering and relating to others…

Initially, you, the parents, will be his only environment… and soon your baby will seek out the company of his brothers and sisters, his friends from the crèche…

Socialising is very important if baby is to adapt well to new environments. Through play, he will learn to be with others and follow the rules of the community!

The pleasure you will feel when playing or speaking with your baby, even in the first few weeks, will be the best stimulation your child can get.
